Whazz-up!

I've been working on lots of experiments painting the blue sky lately. Some of these experiments will be continued to a final picture... some will be gesso'ed over. This little guy is one of the keepers.

I've named him 'Whazz-up" because he kinda looks like he has one of those... well, surpised/inquisitive kind of looks.

I have two more sky experiments and another spring themed bird that should be done in the next couple days. If not in the next couple days... I'll at least post a couple in-progress pictures to show you what I got done.

Blueberry Chickadee

It's been a little while since my last posting of a painting, but I do have a couple of new ones in the works (just a little bit left). Here's the newest one that I've finished. I'm trying to capture all my favourite things about spring. In this one, I have a very happy chickadee... he's happy that's he's found the first blueberry crop of the year!

Its hard to see the blueberries in this picture due to the glare of wet paint and the shadows. I'll see if I can get a better picture on the weekend with sunlight.

Smelling the Blossoms

It has been a little bit of a slow week painting wise, I'm hoping to have a few more done this week. This one is my fourth little oil painting and I think I am starting to figure out how to use oils. I hope you enjoy this little masterpiece.

Springtime Robin

Pardon the light glare in the picture... photographing wet oil paints is a lot more difficult than I thought.

Here on the west coast of Canada, the first signs of spring are starting to poke show up. Blossom buds on the trees and crocus greens are starting to make their presence known. I decided to paint a little robin checking out some early cherry tree blossoms in celebration of the upcoming spring season.

Curiosity

This little guy is fresh off the easle... so fresh the paint isn't even dry yet! This is another ACEO (3.5" x 2.5") oil painting from my new paint set. I am really loving a lot of aspects of oil paints: the colours, slow drying time, and how easy it is to use.

This guy will be up for sale on ebay soon, but if anybody wants him before then simply drop me a line.

Eastern BlueBird

My first oil painting! Oil paints are really neat to play with... and I'm am really happy now that I saved up to buy a set. I love the bright colours that I can get and the blending I can do.

This painting will be available on ebay in the next day or two, unless someone claims him first. If you are interested, give me a shout.
