Patience, Work in Progress

Moving day is quickly approaching for me, and with the packing and cleaning I have not had too much time to paint. This one is the second (work in progress) in a series of three tea paintings that I am currently working on. I was not originally planning on doing a series, but I enjoyed painting the first one so much, I just had to find an excuse to paint it again. The third scene has not been fully been choosen yet, but I have a few ideas that will need to wait until I have fully relocated the studio. Until after the move...

Interrupted, Finished

Finished this one tonight and I am truly happy with the way it turned out, especially the metal on the bottom of the cup. This is definitely a still life that will be done again... though it will be slightly different (perhaps coffee instead of tea).

Interrupted

I am still working on the hummingbird painting from last week, though I do admit that the greens are driving me nuts! As I was having some morning tea and contemplating how to improve my greens I noticed that my tea cup was screaming to be painting. One cannot argue with that so, so I have (once again) interrupted my hummingbird painting with this (almost) completed cup of tea. The cup is one of my favourites, chip and all and has been quite the challenge in the bottom shiney/metal area of the cup. I'm almost done and just a few shadows left on the handle and on the cup. All in all, I'm pretty darn happy with this one.

Spring Garden

I got frustrated with the flower in the hummingbird painting, so I took a break and painting this little one to work out some frustrations and practice some flowers. I do have to admit that pansies are my favourite flowers both to grow and the paint. I'm still plugging away at the hummingbird paintings and it will be done in the near future.

A Little Further on the Latest Painting

I got a little further on this one tonight... mostly laying in the colours in the flower (still my nemesis) and working on the green leaves. Its coming along much quicker than my last hummingbird painting and I am anticipating finishing this one this week.

Lunch on the Go, Work in Progress

It's been a few days since my last post so I thought I would post a painting in progress tonight. This one was started today... mostly inspired by the definite spring like weather that arrived today. Most of the green of the hummingbird is complete. Now the challenge is to get the greens in of the leaves without having it be too similar to the green of the hummingbird. So far so good, but there is a lot more green to go! More to come tomorrow.
